'Once' ,directed by John Carney,was screened on Thursday,30th July.

The Dublin-based musical won the Oscar for the best original soundtrack, besides numerous awards for its off-beat, simplistic tale of the chance meeting between a heartbroken street musician and an immigrant.

Screened in March, our month of Comedy.

Here are the basic details that must be included when one is interested in making a poster/handout. These are necessary to give out the right amount of information to the community,and to prevent any confusions such as 'Oh I thought the film was last week?'

You must have seen the film before making a poster.(We will issue it previously for you,from the KMC).Please note that faff-making is visible,and direct copying of posters from online is a waste of time and paper/print facilities.

Hand-made posters,please collect your posters after the film,Filmclub is not responsible if other students love your artwork to the extent of neatly flicking it for their own walls. Also the size MUST be a double-imperial sheet.

Print posters, both Colour/B&W. Email the pdf to filmclub@nid.edu .Only A3.

Posters for M.A.S.H

M.A.S.H,an unforgettable part of American popular culture set during the 70s cold war and directed by Robert Altman, was screened on the 24th of March.

A grand total of three,count 'em,Three, Posters were made for the screening-A4,Digital- by Tarun Padmakumar(http://gamerheads.blogspot.com), 3rd Year FVC.

And the Winners are..

Results of the POSTER EXHIBITION held over a week ago.

The judges shortlisted a selection of posters from the display and here are the results:

1. and 2. go to Jasjyot Singh Hans, 2nd Yr Animation UG, for Harvey Krumpet and Ten.

Special Award to Anish Dasgupta, Foundation, for his handmade illustration used for unusual format of both bookmark/poster.

Handouts and promos were too few in number to be judged this time,hopefully by the next semester there will enough entries.

The VOUCHERS at leading bookstores will be awarded to the winners.

Thanks to everyone who participated,I hope we'll have a lot more posters and handouts coming up soon!

POSTER DISPLAY

Finally!
A collection of posters from across the last 2 and a half semesters were finally collected,dusted,and put up for display in the foyer.
Display ran Thursday and Friday,print posters were also up.
Rather exciting prizes also due for the BEST POSTER and two runner-ups.
Results are out very,very soon.

December Posters

Posters made by Anish Dasgupta, an enthusiastic elf from Foundation. This was during the December Classics month.

'Dweepa'

Dweepa(kannada),directed by Girish Kasaravalli and a National award winner,marked the start of the Pongal Film Festival in January.
The much-appreciated(therefore flicked,repeatedly,hours before screening began)poster was worked on by Arunprakash, a PG 2nd semester Animation student.

For the New Yr,FINs spreading out, renovating, updating itself..

What happens to most well-recieved innovations? They spread out, reinvent themselves, get 'branded',numbers increase...heck, CCD,RelianceFresh,even RK egg eatery bear testament to that.

Its about time G-NID(Gandhinagar NID,to you) got kick-started.
And thanks to intervention from Sekhar Mukherjee and Kanika( TAD,1st yr)
Their Audi will soon be graced with regular film screenings and audience of the like; making this a landmark for Film Club.Both of them.:)
Personally, I'm glad Gandhinagar and Paldi have this common link, and lets hope for many more in the future.

Next Update.
Film CluB Poster Exhibition scheduled this month. Posters being uprooted from across the last two semesters, and the best one of course will receive a substantial goody-bag type prize from Crosswords.
Similar plans for FIN Promos;regarding which many enthusiasts have promised new promos this semester.

Will wonders never cease?An overseas poster flew into our inbox,in an unusual format a day before Million Dollar Hotel was screened during the last week of the semester.And its never to late to archive.
