18th June:Opening Film

It's that time of the year again, when one must choose the perfect 'opening show' for a brand new year.
Filmclub is proud to have presented Miyazaki's Oscar award-winning 'Spirited Away' ,on Thursday 18th June.

Hayao Miyazaki
is one of the world's greatest animation directors. He was born in 1941,Tokyo.The magically constructed plots, compelling characters, and breathtaking animation in his films have earned him international renown from critics as well as public recognition within Japan.
[When asked about his work's role in modern pop-culture] "The truth is I have watched almost none of it. The only images I watch regularly come from the weather report."

The film. In a universe comparable only to Lewis Carroll's 'Alice in Wonderland', find jekyll-and-hyde witches, ancient japanese gods and symbols, unusual bathhouses and a myriad of mysterious and chillingly dream-like creatures that only Hayao Miyazaki could bring to life.
It all starts with a wrong turn down the road.
